The second JB Inter-School Basketball Tournament organized by JB School is scheduled to begin on Friday.

JB School Principal Narayan Roka informed a press conference on Wednesday that 12 teams each will participate in the competition for senior girls and junior boys. The teams participating in both categories will be divided into 4 groups and will be played on a league-cum-knockout basis.

The winner and runner-up of each group will advance to the quarterfinals. Students studying up to grade 9 in senior girls and up to grade 7 in junior boys will be able to participate in the competition.

Group ‘A’ for senior girls includes Tejaswi Academy, JB and Eden Bridge Academy (EBA), Group ‘B’ includes Arambha, Greenland and Manjari, Group ‘C’ includes Triveni, Valley Public and Belmont, and Group ‘D’ includes Basundhara National Academy (BNA), Ferryland and Satya Sai.

Junior Boys Group ‘A’ includes Arambh, Oasis Academy and Paramount Academy and Group ‘B’ includes JB, Scholars Home and Paramount. BMCA, Laligurans National Academy and Odyssey Academy are in Group ‘C’ and Triveni, BNA and Greenland are in Group ‘D’.

Suju Thapa, director of the organizer JB, said that about Rs 150,000 will be spent to run the competition. The matches of the competition, which will last until Magh 28, will be played on the organizer’s court. JB Vice Principal Ganesh Neupane and basketball coach Narayan Sapkota shed more light on the competition.
