Nepal Rafting and Kayak Club Fisling 'A' has won the title in the 9th National Rafting and 14th National Canoeing Competition held in Fisling, Chitwan.
On the last day of the competition on Tuesday, Fisling 'A' won the trophy by scoring a total of 972 points in all three main categories of rafting. While beating the 12 participating clubs, Fisling 'A' scored 300 points in slalom, 350 points in head-to-head and 322 points in down river race. Paddle Nepal 'B' came second in the competition with 899 points and Rafting Adventure Nepal came third with 851.5 points. Similarly, Bhotekoshi Adventure Club's 'A' and 'C' teams were limited to fourth and fifth places respectively. Vijay Majhi has become the champion in the kayak slalom category of the
competition. He completed the prescribed distance with a score of 124.51 and achieved the top position. Ashish Rana Magar came second in the same category with a score of 126.92. Ranjan Kandel, Rabindra Chepang and Rubin Tamang secured the third, fourth and fifth places respectively. The winning rafting team received Rs 65,000, the second Rs 35,000 and the third Rs 25,000. The first, second and third place winners in kayak slalom received Rs 25,000, 15,000 and 7,500 respectively.
The winning players of the competition organized with the support of the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council were awarded by the council's member-secretary Deepak Lama, Nepal Rafting and Canoeing Association President Rajiv Shrestha and Asian Rafting Association President Saugata Pal Sikanda. President Shrestha informed that the players who managed to be among the top 5 in the canoeing/slalom category will be included in the first round of the Asian Games to be held in Japan.
