Nepal's Para Taekwondo coach Kabiraj Negi Lama has received the World Taekwondo (WT) Best Para Taekwondo Coach of the Year 2025 award.
WT presented Lama with the Best Para Taekwondo Coach Award at the World Taekwondo Gala Awards ceremony held in Fujairah, UAE on Monday.
Lama, who has been the coach of the national Para Taekwondo team in the Nepal Taekwondo Association since 2015, has won 13 international official-level medals for Nepal. Under Lama's coaching, Nepal has won 3 gold, 2 silver and 8 bronze medals in various international competitions, including the Paralympics and the Asian Para Games. Palesha Govardhan won a medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics under Lama's coaching.
The award received by Lama has further enhanced the recognition of Nepal and Nepalis in the international community and will also serve as an inspiration to the next generation of players and coaches, said a press release issued by Nepal Taekwondo Association General Secretary Hemant Dangi.
