Tiptop New Diamond Youth Sports Club has won the 6th Ncell Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Volleyball Championship without losing a single set.

New Diamond defeated Nepal Police Club, the women's departmental team, to become the champion of the Tiger Cup volleyball for the first time on Friday. Having played 5 matches until the final, New Diamond managed to defeat its opponent in straight sets in every match.

New Diamond won the set 25-11, 25-22, 25-16 on Friday at the Pokhara Stadium. This is the third time in a month that Police and New Diamond have met in the final. New Diamond has become the champion by defeating Police three times. Last month, New Diamond defeated Police in the NVA Championship and KNP National Women's Volleyball in Kathmandu.

Earlier, New Diamond was defeated by APF in the final of the fourth Tiger Cup and was the runner-up. New Diamond returned to the title rhythm after star player Pratibha Mali returned from Australia and joined the team. In her presence, New Diamond has won the last three titles.

In the final against Police, New Diamond prioritized blocking. As a result, they succeeded in their strategy. Police's spiker Meena Sunar, who was performing well, could not make it to the final. Police, which had experienced players like Kamala Pun, Poonam Chand, Kamna Bista, Alisa Manandhar, Kopila Rana and others, performed poorly in the final.

New Diamond's coach Kumar Rai said that the team was successful in its strategy of not allowing Police to spike. Middle blockers Sumitra Regmi and Sunita Khatri kept blocking Police's spikes. Throughout the tournament, New Diamond played with the strategy of blocking the opponent's spikes and counter-spiking.

Coach Rai said that the game went well as expected after Pratibha Mali came to the team. 'It is a historic achievement for us to become champions by winning every game in straight sets without losing a set,' he said, 'The love of the Pokharel audience also encouraged us.'

She said that other players are ready for the upcoming NVA League as Pratibha will return to Australia in a week.

Pratibha clarified that she came to Nepal to play in these three tournaments and that her goal of winning the title was achieved. She said that the team was able to win the title with the equal efforts of all the players and coaches in the Tiger Cup. ‘Now the team has become stronger even without me,’ she said. ‘When the opposition is leading the score, new players tend to get nervous, and that will also improve.’ She said that even though she went to Australia for studies, she did not completely give up volleyball. She said, ‘I keep coming when the game is on.’

Champion New Diamond received Rs 666,666 and runner-up Police received Rs 366,666. Thailand Queens, who came in third place, received Rs 266,666. The winning player was awarded by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki and others.

Sumitra Best

New Diamond's middle blocker Sumitra Regmi was declared the best player. She received Rs 26,666. She said that the title was won by the cooperation of the team and the hard work of the coach. 'We all played well, but it is not as expected yet,' she said, 'We have been winning continuously because our morale was high after Pratibha Didi came.'

New Diamond also dominated the category-wise best. Pratibha Mali was declared the best server, Pragati Nath the best setter, Sunita Khatri the best blocker and Kumar Rai the best coach. Shantikala Tamang of Police was named the best libero and Pattiya Juangian of Thailand Queens the best spiker. They each received Rs 11,666.
