Gateway Academy has won the first Cambridge Cup Student Futsal Tournament.
In the final held at the host Cambridge Public High School, Gateway defeated Nexus Academy 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The regulation time ended in a 2-2 draw. Gateway won 30,000 and Nexus 20,000.
Peace Point defeated Awareness Academy 5-1 to finish third. Peace Point won 10,000. Gateway's Anup Tamang was declared the best player and Gateway's Saugat Karki was declared the best goalkeeper. Peace Point's Suraj Regmi was the top scorer.
The winners were felicitated by former Inspector General of Nepal Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh, General Secretary of Nepal School Sports Federation Rajkumar Karki, goalkeeper of the national women's football team Anjana Rana Magar, founding principal of Cambridge Rita Rai Dahal and others.
21 teams competed in the two-day competition on a league-cum-knockout basis.
