Janata won the title by defeating Nepal DVM Global School by 4 wickets in the final match held on Friday at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari. DVM, who batted first after winning the toss, scored a modest total of 63 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs at home. Divas Bista scored the highest score of 22 runs for DVM. Rivaz Bohara added 19 runs.
In reply, Janata achieved the winning target of 64 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 9 overs and 1 ball. Janata's Prabin Mandal remained unbeaten on 28 and Sundar Rai remained unbeaten on 13 runs. DVM's Aditya Poudel took 3 important wickets including a hat-trick, but could not lead the team to victory.
Aditya became the player of the final. The winner Janata received a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the runner-up DVM received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with a trophy, medal and certificate.
DVM's Divas Bista was declared the best player of the tournament. He scored 60 runs and took 6 wickets throughout the tournament. The best bowler was Prabin Mandal of Janata. He took a total of 9 wickets in 4 matches. The best batter was Robin Khatri of Greenpeace Academy. He scored 117 runs in 3 matches. Aditya Poudel of DVM was declared the emerging player.
Sunsari District Cricket Association President CP Poudel, Vice President Sanjeev Dhungana, Kasturi College Principal Kamlesh Sharma Poudel and others distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up players. Organized with the aim of identifying and developing cricket talent at the school level, 21 different schools from Sunsari and Morang participated in the competition.
The competition was conducted from Magh 10 to Friday 16 with the technical support of Sunsari District Cricket Association.
