Ireland and the United States have strengthened their chances of reaching the ICC Women's Twenty20 World Cup.

Ireland defeated the Netherlands by 45 runs and the United States defeated Thailand by 28 runs in the Super Six of the World Cup Global Qualifiers here on Friday.

Ireland gave the tournament's undefeated team the Netherlands no chance at the upper cricket ground in Mulpani. After Friday's results, Bangladesh has 8 points, Netherlands 6, Ireland and Scotland 4-4, and the United States has 2 points. Thailand is without points.

The top four teams in the tournament have already secured places for Bangladesh and the Netherlands in the provision of qualifying for the Women's Twenty20 World Cup to be held in England and Wales in June-July.
