Tribhuvan Army Club and Thailand Queens achieved thrilling victories on Thursday in the ongoing Ncell 6th Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Volleyball Championship in Pokhara.

In the much-awaited departmental derby for the men's team, Army won a crucial 3-2 win over APF Club. The match was very up-and-down as Army defeated APF. After winning the first set 25-19, Army lost the second and third sets 22-25, 21-25 respectively.

However, Army made a great comeback in the fourth set and won 25-17, pushing the match to a decisive fifth set. Army managed to win the match with a thrilling score of 18-16 in the final set.

With this win, both Army and APF have 7 points each. However, Army will now have the opportunity to compete for the third place by leading on the basis of set score. Earlier, Nepal Police Club, also in the men's team, defeated Maldives Volleyball Association in straight sets 3-0 to keep its chances of reaching the final alive.

Police has 10 points from 5 games, while Gandaki and Parbat, who have played 4 games, have 9 points each. The team that scores 3 points on Friday will directly advance to the finals, while if the match goes to the fifth set, the final team will be decided based on the set count.

In the women's third-place match on Thursday itself, Thailand Queens defeated APF 3-2 in a tightly contested set. Thailand, which lost the first set 23-25, won the second set 25-11 and the third set 25-9. After the fourth set was again handed over to APF by 23-25, Thailand won the fifth set with a 15-11 lead. Thailand Queens has received a prize of Rs 206,666 for finishing third.

There will be two on Friday. New Diamond Sports Club and Nepal Police Club will compete for the title in the women's category. In the men's category, the last group stage match will be between Gandaki Province and Parbat District Volleyball Associations.
