In the first match of the tournament, which began on Thursday at the Narad Adarsh Stadium in Basaha, Chaudandigadhi Municipality-4, the host was defeated 1-0 by Young Brother Club, Itahari, Sunsari.
The Young Brother Club player Fofona scored in the 27th minute of the match. Although neither team scored any more goals throughout the match, Fofona's goal was decisive. With the win, The Young Brother Club has reached the semi-finals of the competition.

The tournament was jointly inaugurated on Thursday by Chaudandigadhi Municipality Mayor Kaluman Lama, Belka Municipality Mayor Ashok Karki, and Katari Municipality Mayor Rajendra Chandra Shrestha. Basah Club has been organizing the Gold Cup competition every year in memory of the democratic warrior late Naradamani Thulung. This is the 11th edition.
