Bhuvan Nagarkoti has strengthened his chances of winning the title at the Surya Nepal NPGA Tour Championship as the second day ends.
He has beaten Tanka Bahadur Karki and Bhuwan Kumar Rokka by 6 strokes. Tanka and Bhuwan shot a combined score of 1-under 143. Tanka shot a 1-under 71 and Bhuwan Rokka shot a 2-over 74 in the second round. Suman Pariyar is in fourth place with a score of 2-under 70 and an even-par 144. Nepal's number one pro Neeraj Tamang (72), Suman Rai (74) and Dhan Bahadur Thapa (74) are in joint fifth place with a total of 1-over 145. Sanjay Lama shot a 1-under 71 to move up to eighth place with a total of 2-over 146. Jayaram Shrestha and Dinesh Prajapati tied for ninth place with a 3-over 147. Jayaram shot a best-of-the-day 3-under 69 while Dinesh played a 2-over 74. The cut was made at a score of 8-over 152. Of these, 18 pros and two amateurs have made it to the final round. On the pro side, Kumar Kami, Ravi Khadka, Ramesh Adhikari, Pradeep Kumar Lama, Surya Prasad Sharma, Balabhadra Rai, Sabin Sapkota and Deepak Magar made the cut.
On the amateur side, Prakrit Tamang is at the top with a score of 3 over 147. He is in joint ninth place overall. Prakrit is two strokes ahead of Sundar Rai, who is in second place with a score of 5 over 149. Sundar played a 2-over 74 in the second round.
Top-placed Bhuvan birdied the fourth and ninth holes to finish at 2-under 34 on the front nine. He then saved par on all nine holes of the back nine to play an even par 36. Tank played a front nine of 1-under 35 and a back nine of even par 36 to move up to joint second place. Bhuvan Rokka played a front nine of 1-over 37 and a back nine of 1-over 37.
The winner of the tournament organized by NPGA under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd. will receive a prize of Rs. 170,000, the runner-up Rs. 125,000, and the third-place golfer Rs. 100,000.
