The fourth Yalmber Cup National Open Badminton Tournament, organized by the Nakhipot Youth Club and co-organized by the Nakhipot Youth Club Badminton Circle, began on Wednesday.

On the first day of the tournament being held at the organizer's covered hall in Nakhipot, Love Badminton Academy's Asmit Rana defeated Devinagar's Subhang Acharya 21-7, 21-10 and Army's Prateek Bista defeated Dhyanantari's Sushant Prajapati 19-21, 21-19, 21-16 in the U-17 boys' singles.

In other matches of the same tournament, Kirtipur Badminton Club's Samantabhadra Vajracharya, Bhinchebahal Badminton Club's Ronish Vajracharya, Balkumari's Rijen Ghimire, Army's Deep Thing, Police's Rishabh Rai, Balkumari's Saksham Shakya, Devinagar's Ujjwal Chaudhary, Love's Pappu Pal and Deerwalk's Saurya Bista won.

In the men's doubles category 'B', the winning pair were Kailash Gurung and Lokendra Thapa of the host Nakhipot, Krishna Salami and Ramesh Uparkoti of Suryadarshan, Kamal Lama and Sudarshan Thapa of Freedom Fitness, and Bhim Rai and Pradeep Rai of Ochu Badminton Club.

In the veteran men's doubles over 45 years, Chandra Limbu and Tulsi Pun of Nakhipot, Asim Khadka and Surendra Lama of NPS Bhaktapur, Kushal KC and Khem Subba of Devinagar, Jeevan Gurung and Madhu Gurung of YCBC, Arun Sanjel and Shyam Thapa of PFC, Mednaraj Pandey and Bal Bahadur Rai of Nakhipot, Kushu Budhathoki and Chetsingh Thapa of APF, J Maharjan and K Gopal Maharjan of Sunakothi Badminton Club, Narayan Khadka and Gore Rana Magar of Navajivan, Chiribabu Maharjan and Bijen Shrestha of Mirmire Badminton Club and Jaguram Chaudhary and Narayan Thapa of Devinagar have reached the second round.

The pair of 314 players are competing in 4 doubles and 1 singles in the competition. The medal winners of all events will receive cash prizes. The total prize money is 555,000 rupees.
