All three teams from host Ferryland School reached the semifinals of the Simon Memorial 2nd Ferryland Inter-School Basketball Tournament on Wednesday. Two teams in the junior girls' division and one team in the junior boys' division reached the semifinals.
In the junior girls' category, Ferryland 'A' defeated JB School by a score of 24-18. Winner's Sandeepa Rai scored 7. Ferryland 'B' defeated Basundhara National Academy (BNA) by 19-15. Winner's Saina Majhi scored 6.
In the junior girls' category, Newton defeated Himshila by 20-16 and Valley Public defeated Canvas Vasant Ritu by 21-15. Newton's Khandu Sherpa scored 6 and Valley's Soni Tamang scored 9. In the semifinals, Newton will meet Ferryland 'A' while Ferryland 'B' will meet Valley Public.
In the junior boys' category, Ferryland defeated BNA by 19-15, with Rahul Magrati scoring 6. In the other quarterfinals, Gyanbhoomi defeated Bhakti 27-20, JB School defeated Golden Peak 18-16, and Angels Heart defeated Himshila 26-22 to make it to the semifinals. Gyanbhoomi's Yunish Pandit scored 7, JB's Darshan scored 8, and Angels Heart's Saurav Shrestha scored 6. The quarterfinals will be between Fairyland and JB, and Gyanbhoomi and Angels Heart.
