The Nepal Sports Summit Committee has announced the Nepal Sports Summit.

The Sports Summit will be held at Hotel Solti on February 5, the organizing committee has said. The summit will feature five high-level panel discussions focused on issues related to Nepal's sports sector, including policy, infrastructure, communication, digital content, and international cooperation. The sessions will cover topics such as sports diplomacy, sports infrastructure development, development of emerging sports, the role of sports communication and broadcasting, and sports storytelling through digital sports content and influencers, said Bhaskar Rajkarnikar, one of the organizers. The main objective of the Sports Summit is to establish Nepal as a world-class sports tourism destination, attract international investment, and build sustainable partnerships to strengthen Nepal's sports economy, said Rajkarnikar. Another organizer of the summit, Aamir Akhtar, said that the Nepal Sports Summit is not just an event, but a national campaign to integrate sports, diplomacy, tourism, and economic development. He clarified that the summit's objective is to connect Nepal's sports ecosystem with global opportunities and transform the country's sports future through international cooperation.

Stating that Nepal's sports are entering a different era, Rajkarnikar said that it is the need of the day to bring Nepali sports into the professional path. He said that NSS 2026 is about building sustainable partnerships to strengthen Nepal's sports economy. Referring to the fact that the sports economy accounts for more than two percent of the global economy, he said, "We are organizing this summit to increase the share of the sports economy in Nepal's economy as well."

It is said that diplomats, international missions, corporate leaders, global investors, government officials, policymakers, international representatives and various stakeholders of the sports industry will participate in the Nepal Sports Summit. World cricket star Kapil Dev will also attend the summit, the organizers have said.
