Nepal Police Club players Swanim Manandhar and Army's Prabin Manandhar have reached the finals of the men's single kata category of the National Kasthamandap Karate Tournament.
In the semifinals on Wednesday at the Nakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, Swanim defeated APF's Manish Karki and Praveen defeated Amrit Thokar of Bagmati Province. In the women's section of the same competition, APF's Sanju Desar defeated Bagmati's Deepa Pun and Police's Elisha Raskoti Magar defeated Army's Sanumaya Thing to secure a place in the final.
The Army and Police secured the title in the men's/women's team kata of the competition organized by the Nepal Sitorio Karate Association Branch Dojo Lainchaur.
The competition was inaugurated by Nakhep Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta. On that occasion, international medal winners Nirupa Dong Tamang and Rehan Javed were honored with Rs 20,000 each. Karate coaches Rajendra Kapali, Akbar Shah and Vijayman Thapa were also honored.
According to competition coordinator Ram Kumar Tharu, 210 players from 10 teams from all seven provinces, Police, Army and APF are participating in the competition.
