Former president Ganesh Thapa has advised the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) to postpone the proposed 'early elections' for now and move forward with the process.

The ANFA working committee has directed to hold elections on Magh 12. The process has already begun. But the Patan High Court has ordered to stop all types of election processes.

The National Sports Council has also directed ANFA to start its process from the district level instead of directly holding the central election. At a press conference on Monday, former president Thapa said, ‘The court has not said not to hold elections. The government has not said not to hold elections. Those who filed the lawsuit have not said that elections should not be held. They are only saying that this election process that everyone is trying to force has not reached the point. First hold the district election, and only then hold the central election.’

Thapa argued that if the election is stopped, there will be third-party interference in Nepali football and that FIFA and AFC will ban Nepali football in the process.

He said, ‘The court had ordered twice in the past regarding football. But Nepali football has never been banned. It is also not correct that FIFA will impose a ban as soon as the court makes a decision.'
