Neeraj had edged amateur golfer Rahul Vishwakarma with a score of 6-under 64 at Dharan Golf Club on Thursday. Neeraj had an impressive 12-under 128 overall. Rahul also finished second with a score of 6-under 64 and 7-under 133 overall.
Dharan's pro Shukra Bahadur Rai and Tanka Bahadur Karki shared third place with a total score of 4-under 136. Shukra finished the second day's play with a 3-under 67 and Tanka 1-under 69. Dinesh Prajapati, playing 4-under 66, is in fifth place with a total score of 3-under 137. Ravi Khadka, Bhuvan Nagarkoti and Balbhadra Rai were joint sixth with a total score of 1-under 139. Ravi shot 1-under 69, Bhuvan scored an even par 70 and Balbhadra scored 2-over 72.
Two amateurs Padmahang Limbu and Prakrit Tamang finished ninth with a total score of 2 over 142. Padma had a score of 2 under 68 and Prakrit had a score of 3 over 73.
Nepal number one Neeraj, playing 6 under for the second consecutive day at the home course, achieved birdie success at the second, third, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth holes. With the help of 6 birdies, he finished the front nine in a magnificent style at 6 under 30, bogey-free. He also saved a shot at the 11th hole, but a bogey at the 15th hole ended the back nine at an even par of 34.
Rahul, while making a bogey-free card on Thursday, completed the front nine at 3 under 33 and the back nine at 3 under 31. He made a total of 6 birdies at the fifth, sixth, ninth, tenth, 12th and 18th holes.
Shukra birdied the second, third and seventh holes but missed shots on the fourth and fifth holes to finish the front nine at 1-under 35. He then birdied the 12th and 15th holes to finish the back nine at 2-under 32.
Tank birdied the first and seventh holes against a bogey on the second hole to finish the front nine at 1-under 35. He then saved shots on the 10th, 12th and 18th holes. He bogeyed the 11th, 14th and 15th holes to finish the back nine at an even par of 34.
17 professionals and 7 amateurs who scored 11-over 151 at the end of the 36 holes have made the cut. Jayaram Shrestha, who made a hole-in-one on the 14th hole, along with Pro Suman Pariyar, Sunil KC, Sanjay Lama, Suman Rai, Bhuvan Rokka, Deepak Magar, Krishnaman Rajbahak, Suresh Tamang, Surya Prasad Sharma and Dhan Bahadur Thapa have secured their places for the third and final day.
Rahul is at the top of the amateur standings with a score of 7-under 133. He is 9 strokes ahead of Padmahang and Prakrit Tamang. Four other amateur players Sundar Rai, Ram Tamang, Jitendra Rai and Balram Poudel have also made the cut.
Despite scoring 11-over 151, Shivkumar Majhi, Tham Bahadur Rai, Rajen Rai and amateur Gajendra Limbool could not make the cut on countback.
