Leon Maharjan of Pushpasadan High School defeated Hardik Pant in the Himalayan Challengers FIDE Rating Classical Chess Tournament on Wednesday.

The 12-year-old Leon defeated 1605-rated Hardik after a two-hour and 45-minute contest. The unrated Leon has defeated rated players in all three matches of the Himalayan Challengers. He had earlier defeated Ishwar Lama (1551) and Anmol Rai (1534). He will play 1607-rated Rohit Shrestha in the fourth round on Wednesday.

Top seeds Abhik Shah (1918-rated) and Sajal Neupane (1697) maintained their 100% wins on the third day. Abhik of St. Xavier's defeated Shubhang Pradhan and Sajal of British College ended Nihana Shrestha's unbeaten run.

In the third round, Agrata Acharya defeated Satvikman Tuladhar, Rohit Shrestha defeated Reyansh Khanal, Bimash Lohani defeated Ishwar Lama, Anmol Rai defeated Nayuma Magar, Ashirwad Thapa defeated Abhik Regmi, Prabir KC defeated Reyansh Maharjan, Ujibhani Kandel defeated Biraj Saria, Nibha Rai defeated Riyanshu Poudel, Bianca Gautam defeated Shreyansh Sapkota, Surya Pratap Karki defeated Ojaswi Shrestha, and Aranya Tuladhar defeated Abhiyan Rai.

Abhik, Sajal, and Leon are ahead in the competition with 100 percent wins until the third round.
