The Nakhipot Youth Club is co-organizing the 4th Yalmber Cup National Open Badminton Tournament with the Nakhipot Youth Club Badminton Circle.
The tournament, which will be held from Magh 14, will feature 5 events, including 4 doubles and 1 singles, said Indrajit Limbu, chairman of the organizing club, at a press conference. The competition will be held in men's doubles 'A' division and 'B' division, U-17 boys' singles, women's doubles and veteran men's doubles over 45 years of age.
Players in the top 20 rankings will not be allowed to participate in men's doubles 'A'. The organizers have stated that the players who will be allowed to participate in men's doubles 'B' category will be decided after discussing with the Nepal Badminton Association. Players other than the top 10 rankings will be given an opportunity in women's doubles.
The total prize money for the tournament is 370,000 rupees, informed Pushparaj Rai, general secretary of the club. The first place winner in men's doubles 'A' will win 50,000, the second place winner 25,000 and the third place winner 10,000 each.
The top three finishers in men's doubles 'B', women's doubles and veteran doubles will receive cash prizes of Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000/10,000 respectively. The winner of the U-17 category will receive Rs 20,000, the runner-up Rs 10,000 and the third-place finisher Rs 2.5,000/2.5,000.
The organizers have stated that around 250 players are expected to participate in the competition. The four-day competition to be held at the organizer's covered hall will cost around Rs 1.845 million, said Sujan Rai, treasurer of the organizing club.
Nisham Hangma Limbu, who has won medals in various domestic competitions representing the organizing club, was also honored. The Nakhipot Youth Club, which is active in sports and various social activities, was established in 2056 BS.
