Makalu Friends Club has entered the finals of the third edition of the Tinpokhari Cup football tournament.

Makalu came close to the title after defeating last year's champion Chulachuli Sporting Club of Jhapa by a 2-0 margin in the semi-final match held at Khandbari Stadium on Monday.

Makalu Friends played an aggressive game in the second half of the match and took a decisive lead. Jeevan Magar scored the first goal in the 9th minute of the match to give the team the lead, while Sagar Katuwal added another goal in the 15th minute to end Chulachuli's chances of comeback.

Defeating last year's champion team Chulachuli Sporting Club and making it to the final is considered a special achievement for Makalu Friends. Makalu's restrained defense and fast attack seemed to have the game completely under control in the stadium full of spectators.

Now the second semi-final match of the tournament will be held at Khandbari Stadium on Tuesday. In the match, Sekaha Community Club of Sankhuwasabha and Sheetalpati Football Club will compete. The winner of this match will face Makalu Friends for the title.

The final match of the tournament, which will feature eight teams from eastern Nepal, including Sankhuwasabha, will be held on Magh 1, the organizer Tinpokhari Club has said. The winning team of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs 251,000 and the runner-up team will receive a prize of Rs 121,000.
