The Rising Star U-12 Boys Open Cricket Tournament is scheduled to be held. The tournament, organized by the Rising Star Cricket Academy, will be held at the Sifal Ground from Magh 1.

Academy President Sunilman Amatya said that out of the total 27 participating teams, 8 teams will be from outside the valley. Former vice-president of Nepal Cricket Association, he said that the entry fee has been made free for teams coming from outside with the aim of encouraging district-level players and accommodation arrangements have also been made.

At a press conference on Monday, President Amatya reminded that age-group competitions have been held to strengthen the foundation of domestic cricket. According to him, the U-14 competition was held in Asoj and the U-16 competition is scheduled to be held in Falgun.

Technical Director Ravindra Gupta said that only players under the age of 12 and up to 5 feet 3 inches will be allowed to play in the U-12 boys competition. The organizers have announced that 6 teams will be formed by selecting the best 90 players of the competition and they will play 50 overs in white jerseys in a single round robin format.

It is said that attractive prizes have been arranged for the teams and players who perform best. The winner of the 28-day competition will get 30 thousand and the second 20 thousand. The organizer has stated that the player of the series will be given a kit bag, the best batter will be given a bat, and the best bowler will be given a cricket shoe.

Anupam Foodland is the main sponsor of the tournament. Anupam's Managing Director Madhu Panthi said that the sponsorship is to support the organizers' steps in the development of age-group cricket.
