New Era Academy and Newton won the title at the 8th Ops Sports Festival on Sunday. New Era was the champion in senior boys futsal and Newton was the champion in boys volleyball.
In the boys' futsal final held at Sacred Heart School, New Era defeated Newton 3-1. New Era's Pemba Tamang scored 2 goals and Ayush Baram scored 1 goal. Newton's Eugene Lama scored a goal. Sacred Heart and SEB finished third. 16 teams competed on a league-cum-knockout basis. Earlier, Himarshmi had won the girls' football title with 12 teams participating.
In the boys' volleyball 'best of five' final organized by the Organization of Private Schools (OPS), Newton defeated Himarshmi 25-17, 23-25, 19-25, 25-12, 15-6. Sacred Heart defeated SEB 25-13, 25-23 to finish third. Eight volleyball teams participated.
Athletics and badminton were also competed in the sports festival. Kaushal became the champion in athletics and Himarshmi in badminton.
The winners were awarded by PABSON Bagmati Province Senior Vice President Sanuraja Karki and member Bishnu Chandra Adhikari, OPS President Lokendra Bahadur Khadka, Tarkeshwor Nagar Sports Development Committee Vice President Firoz Shrestha, among others.
