Bishwa Adarsh College, Itahari, has won the title of the third edition of the inter-college T-20 cricket tournament.
Bishwa Adarsh defeated Namuna College by 51 runs in the final match held in Itahari on Saturday. Bishwa Adarsh, who won the title of the first edition of the competition, lost to Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus of Biratnagar in the final of the last edition.
Chasing a target of 159 runs set by Bishwa Adarsh at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari, Namuna College was bundled out for 107 runs in 18 overs. Bipin Shah top-scored with 47 runs for Namuna. Raju BK scored 18 and Krishna Bista scored 12 runs while the other batters could not make much of an impact. Anish Kunwar of Bishwa Adarsh took 4 important wickets. Rohan Shah and Sameer Timsina took 2 wickets each.
Earlier, Bishwa Adarsh, who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 157 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Rohan Shah top-scored with 37 runs, while Akash Saraf contributed 30, Sameer Timsina 25, Ayush Dhungel 13 and Roshan Khatri contributed 12 runs. Subit Mehta of Namuna took 3 wickets and Raju BK took 2 wickets.
Anish Kunwar of Bishwa Adarsh was declared the ‘Player of the Match’ of the final match. The winner of the competition, Bishwa Adarsh, received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 25,000, while the runner-up, Namuna College, received a cash prize of Rs 15,000. Bhupal Luitel, captain of Bishwa Adarsh, was declared the best player. While Anish Kunwar was declared the ‘Best Bowler’, Roshan Khatri became the ‘Best Batter’.
The winners and runners-up were awarded prizes by the chief guest, Itahari-9 Ward Chairman Jitendra Thapa, Bishwa Adarsh Principal Ganesh Dulal, Koshi Premier League winner Namuna Blaster owner Dharma Neupane and others.
The competition organized by Itahari Adarsh Giants since Poush 19 saw 12 college teams from Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari of Koshi Province competed.
