New Diamond Youth Sports Club KNP Nerolake has entered the finals of the 9th Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women's Volleyball Tournament, remaining undefeated in the round robin league.
New Diamond defeated defending champion Nepal Police 25-14, 25-19, 20-25, 27-29 and 15-10 in their final match of the four-team round-robin league at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall in Tripureshwor on Friday.
New Diamond remained at the top of the league with its third consecutive win. New Diamond and Police had already secured a title clash before this match. Police, which suffered its first defeat in three matches, finished second in the league. New Diamond's Pratibha Mali was named Player of the Match.
In the next match, Nepal Army defeated APF 27-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 25-22 to win the league in a consolation match. The two teams will play for the third place. Army's Bhawana Dangi was named Player of the Match.
The competition, organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, Balkot and sponsored by multinational paint company KNP Nerolac, will conclude on Saturday. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 500,000, the runner-up Rs 250,000, and the third-place team will receive Rs 125,000. The first prize is sponsored by Life Insurance Corporation Nepal Limited, the second prize by Marvel Technoplast Pvt. Ltd., and the third prize by Fitness Choice.
