Nepal Police Club and New Diamond Youth Sports Club have entered the finals of the 9th Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women's Volleyball Tournament. Both teams reached the finals with a game to spare after winning their second consecutive match in the four-team round-robin league.

Both teams defeated their respective opponents 3-2 on Thursday. In the first match at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, Police defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 20-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-20 and 15-11.

In the next match, New Diamond defeated APF Club 25-16, 25-21, 19-25, 19-25 and 15-7. With their second consecutive defeat, Army and APF are out of the title race. Earlier, Police had defeated APF 3-0 and New Diamond defeated Army 3-0.

In the first match, Usha Bhandari of Police and Salina Budhamagar of New Diamond were awarded ‘Player of the Match’ in the second match and were awarded Rs 15,000 each.

The tournament, organized by Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, Balakot and under the main sponsorship of KNP Nerolake, will have two matches on Friday. The first match will be between New Diamond and Police. This match will decide the top team in the round robin league. In the second match, APF will compete against Army.

Out of the 4 participating teams, Army is the only one who has not won the title of this tournament. Police is the previous winner while New Diamond is the winner of the seventh edition. APF was the champion in the first 6 editions.

The winner will receive a cash prize of 5 lakhs, the runner-up 250 thousand and the third-placed team 125 thousand. The first prize is sponsored by Life Insurance Corporation Nepal Limited, the second prize is sponsored by Marble Technoplast Pvt. Ltd. and the third prize is sponsored by Fitness Choice. The best player will be given a cash prize of 50 thousand. This prize is sponsored by Hilife. The 7 best players in each discipline will receive a cash prize of 25 thousand.
