In the last match of the league stage held on Thursday, Aastha became the last team to make the semi-finals by defeating Purbanchal Engineering Campus Dharan by 6 wickets. Earlier, Kantipur College of Biratnagar, Bishwa Adarsh of Itahari and Namuna College have entered the last four.
Purbanchal, who batted first after winning the toss at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari, scored 78 runs in a shortened match of 16 overs, losing all their wickets. Ajit Atal scored 17 runs, Bibas Bhandari scored 13 and Kashi Sanjel scored 12 runs. Sugam Budhathoki of Aastha College took 3 wickets and Chhabilal Khadka, Ranjan Dhamala and Saujan Ghimire took 2 wickets each. Ashish Rana took 1 wicket.
In reply, Aastha, who had a target of 79 runs, achieved it in 11 overs for the loss of 4 wickets. Santosh Gajmer of Aastha scored 17, Bhupal Dangal scored 15 and Himanshu Giri scored 11 runs. The semi-finals of the tournament will be held on Friday. The first semi-final will be between Bishwa Adarsh and Kantipur College. The second semi-final will be between Namuna and Aastha College, informed Bhupal Luitel, president of the Itahari Adarsh Giants, the organizer.
The final match of the tournament, in which teams from 12 colleges of Jhapa, Morang and Sunsari of Koshi Province have participated, will be held on Saturday. The winner of the tournament, which is being held with the technical support of the Sunsari District Cricket Association and in collaboration with Cloud Education and Visa Services, will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 15,000.
