The ninth Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial National Women's Volleyball Tournament, organized by the Sher Bahadur Khadka Memorial Foundation, Balkot, is starting from Wednesday.
The organizers have stated that preparations are underway. The first day of the competition, which will be held at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwor for 4 days, will feature 2 matches, said the foundation's chairman Ranjan Khadka.
The first match will be between the seventh edition's winner New Diamond Youth Sports Club and the Nepali Army, and the second match will be between the previous winner Nepal Police and the winner of the first 6 editions, APF Club. These 4 teams are participating in the competition, which will be held on the basis of a round-robin league. The top 2 teams in the round-robin league will play again for the title.
The total prize money of the competition, which will be held under the main sponsorship of KNP Nerolake, is Rs. 1.3 million. The winner will receive Rs. 500,000, the runner-up Rs. 250,000, and the third-place team Rs. 125,000. The first prize is sponsored by Life Insurance Corporation Nepal Limited, the second prize is sponsored by Marble Technoplast Pvt. Ltd., and the third prize is sponsored by Fitness Choice, according to the organizers.
A cash prize of Rs. 50,000 will be given to the best player. This award is sponsored by Highlife. The 7 best players in each category will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each. The 'Player of the Match' of each game will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000. On the occasion of the inauguration of the competition, a national female player will be honored with the Sher Bahadur Khadka Special Award with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
