Mohamed Salah's goal late in extra time helped Egypt beat Benin 3-1 on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Yasser Ibrahim gave Egypt the lead after a draw in regulation time. Victor Osman scored twice as Nigeria comfortably defeated Mozambique 4-0 to secure their place in the last eight.

Egypt is the most successful team in the history of the tournament, having won the title a record seven times. But Egypt has not been champion since 2010.

Mozambique will return home having experienced the knockout stage for the first time in the tournament's history. Mali, Senegal, Cameroon and hosts Morocco have also reached the last eight.
