Kantipur College has become the first team to enter the semi-finals of the third inter-college T-20 cricket tournament underway in Itahari.
Kantipur defeated Red Star College of Morang Pathari by 42 runs in the last match of their league stage held at the Janata Cricket Ground in Itahari on Monday and set their journey to the last four.
Kantipur, who is in Group 'C', became the first team to enter the semi-finals by winning 100 percent in two matches of the league stage. Earlier, Kantipur had defeated Janata High School Itahari by 25 runs in the first match.
Kantipur, who batted first after winning the toss, scored 146 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in a match that was shortened to 17 overs due to bad weather. In another match held on Monday, Bishwa Adarsh College of Itahari defeated Kasturi College by a huge margin of 236 runs. Batting first after winning the toss, Bishwa Adarsh scored a huge total of 278 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in the stipulated 20 overs with the century innings of Rohan Chhetri and Akash Saraf. Sakushal Shrestha added 18 runs. Opening batsman Rohan, who faced 59 balls, played an unbeaten innings of 103 runs, hitting 15 fours and 1 six. Another opener, Akash, who faced 50 balls, scored 112 runs with the help of 14 fours and 6 sixes before being caught by Siddharth Yadav. In reply, Kasturi College, chasing a target of 279 runs, was bundled out for 42 runs after losing all its wickets in 13 overs. Kasturi's six batsmen failed to open their account.
