The APF Football Club of the Departmental Armed Police Force has lifted the title of the 33rd edition of the Triveni Cup Football Tournament held in Besisahar.

APF became the champion for the second time in a row by defeating home team Langdidevi Football Club Nalma 2-0 in the final held at the sports ground in Sahaji, Besisahar on Monday.

Although the first half of the scheduled 90-minute match ended in a goalless draw, APF made a decisive performance in the second half.

In the 31st minute of the second half of the match, Yuvraj Khadka made good use of the pass given by Hari Karki from the left side and scored. 8 minutes later, in the 39th minute of the second half, Pradeep Lama added another goal, ensuring APF's victory.

Yuvraj Khadka of APF, who played a decisive role in the final match, was declared the 'Man of the Match' and received a prize of Rs 10,000. Along with the title, APF won a trophy worth Rs 1.2 million. Runner-up Langdidevi Nalma settled for Rs 600,000. The players were awarded medals and certificates.

Earlier, APF had defeated Sundarbazar Football Club 5-0 in the opening round of the competition to make it to the last 8. Then, they defeated Thadarai Samaj and Lamjung Marsyangdi Football Club to make it to the finals.

APF participated in the competition for the first time last year, defeating the home team Buddha Youth Club (BYC) Bhoteodar 4-3 in a tiebreaker and won the title.

In the individual category, APF's Sameer Raj Thokar and Pradeep Lama won the top scorer title by scoring 3 goals each. They shared a prize of Rs 25,000. Thokar could not take the field in the subsequent matches after scoring a hat-trick in the match against Sundarbazar and was injured during the celebration.

APF's Angel Shrestha was declared the best goalkeeper. APF's Santosh Khatri was also declared the best player. They each received Rs 25,000.

The winning players and teams were awarded prizes by the organizers, Triveni Youth Club President Tekjung Gurung, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, Province Minister for Forests and Environment Bhesh Bahadur Poudel, former MP Jamindraman Ghale, Besisahar Municipality Mayor Guman Singh Aryal, and others.
