Langdidevi Football Club has entered the finals of the 33rd edition of the ongoing Triveni Cup football tournament in Nalma, Lamjung, by easily defeating 'A' Division League champions Church Boys United.

In the semi-final held at the Sahaji Sports Ground in Besisahar on Sunday, home team Langdidevi defeated Church Boys 2-0. Church Boys failed to open the account against Langdidevi, who had been dominant throughout the game.

Langdidevi's Rohan Karkarli scored in the 36th minute of the first half to give the team the lead. Ashish Gurung added a goal through a penalty in the first minute of injury time of the second half, ensuring Langdidevi's journey to the final. Ashish Gurung, who was declared the best player of the match, received a prize of Rs 10,000.

Earlier, Church Boys had defeated two-time champions Laligurans Bhujung 4-3 in a tiebreaker to make it to the last four.

Langdidevi will compete with the defending champion Armed Police Force APF Football Club on Monday for the title. APF secured a place in the final by defeating Lamjung Marsyangdi 4-3 in a tiebreaker in the semi-finals.

According to the organizer, Triveni Youth Club President Tekjung Gurung, the formal program will be held at 12 noon on Monday and the final match will be held at 1 pm.

The winner of the competition will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with 1.2 million rupees. The runner-up will receive a medal and certificate along with 600,000 rupees. The best player, highest scorer and best goalkeeper will be awarded a trophy and certificate along with 25,000 rupees each. The prizes will be tax deductible.

The organizers have stated that the prize of 200,000 rupees each, which was given to the two teams that lost in the semi-finals last year, has been removed from this year.
