D-Town Basketball Academy Kavre has started high-level basketball training in the district. On Friday, the academy launched its annual training program amid a ceremony. The training program was inaugurated by Dhulikhel Municipality Mayor Ashok Byanju. The academy has stated that 40 players will be trained initially.
The program, organized with the aim of promoting basketball in Kavre district, identifying new talents, and physically, mentally and morally empowering the youth, was conducted in consultation and collaboration with the Kavre Basketball Association.
Speaking at the program, Dhulikhel Municipality Mayor Ashok Byanju expressed his commitment that Dhulikhel Municipality will always be ready to provide necessary support for the development of sports like basketball. He pledged to build a well-organized basketball court in Dhulikhel in the coming days and that the municipality will provide all possible support in the development of sports infrastructure.
At the inauguration ceremony, Nepal Basketball Association Vice President Pawan Thapa urged the local government to establish a basketball court in the district. D-Town Basketball Academy started training in consultation with the association, he said, adding that necessary support would be provided for the training. In the
program, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Binod Neupane said that the work started by the academy to increase interest in basketball and produce national and international level players was commendable. President of Kavre Basketball Association Shiva Thapa Magar said that this campaign was started with the aim of advancing sports not only as a means of competition but as a school for building life. He expressed his commitment to make Kavre an important center of basketball with the support of local levels, organizations and sports enthusiasts.
According to program coordinator Vaibhav Kunwar, the training sessions will be conducted at the Gyankunj Educational Institute in Banepa, where regular and systematic training will be provided under the leadership of experienced coaches.
