The host school has won the title of the second DVM Cup inter-school cricket tournament. In the final held in Itahari on Wednesday, the host school DVM Sagarmatha defeated Janata Secondary School by 10 runs to win the title.
DVM Sagarmatha, who won the toss and elected to bat first at the Nepal DVM Global Academy ground in Itahari-9, scored 79 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Rivaz Bohara scored 24 runs not out to win the title for DVM, while Ayush Pokharel also played an innings of 22 runs not out.
Chasing a winning target of 80 runs, Janata Mavi Itahari could only score 69 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Esan Khan scored the highest score of 23 runs for Janata Mavi, while Ankit Das added 18 and Praveen Mandal added 12 runs, but that was not enough for the victory. Ramdhuni's Unique Academy won the disciplined team title and won a cash prize of Rs 3,000. The winning and runner-up teams were awarded prizes by Koshi Provincial Cricket Association President Sarbajitraj Pandey, Itahari-9 Ward President Jitendra Thapa, DVM School Principal Benu Prasad Sitaula and others.
19 schools from Morang and Sunsari competed in the competition, which was started for the first time in Sunsari using leather balls at the school level.
