Karan Thapa wins Machhapuchhre tennis title

Nepali player Karan Bahadur Thapa, who came from India, has won the men's singles title of the 22nd Machhapuchhre Bank Pokhara Open and Veterans Tennis Tournament by defeating Ayushman Hazur Ghale in the final. He defeated Ghale 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in the final at the Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday.

While he received Rs 80, Ayushman, who finished second, received Rs 40,000. Jitendra Pariyar won the men's singles over 35 years of age.

He won the title by defeating Santosh Khatri in the final in a 6-1, 6-0 set. With the victory, Jitendra received Rs 60,000 and Santosh received Rs 30,000. Earlier, Shivali Gurung won the women's singles title on Thursday.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rajendra Singh Bhandari presented the award to the winning player. On the occasion, he recalled that he had previously participated in 18 editions as a tennis player. The tournament was organized by the Kaski District Tennis Association from December 13.

On the occasion, Nepal No. 1 tennis player Pradeep Khadka also signed a memorandum of understanding to provide tennis training to Pokharel's emerging player Aryash Raj Poudel. Khadka will remain as Poudel's tennis coach for two years.
