Shivali Gurung has emerged as the champion in the women's category of the 22nd Machhapuchhre Cup Pokhara Open and Veterans Tennis Tournament being held in Pokhara.

In the final match held at Pokhara Stadium on Tuesday, Shivali defeated Nepal's top seed Sunira Thapa 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the title.

Nepal's No. 1 player Pradeep Khadka's journey in the men's singles has also been limited to the semifinals. Ayushman Hazur Ghale defeated him in a 2-1 set to put himself in the last two. Pradeep, who won the first set 2-6, lost the second and third sets 6-4, 6-2 respectively. 

In the other semifinal, Nepali player Karan Bahadur Thapa, who came from India, defeated Rajbir Pradhan in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. With this, Ayushman and Karan are set to meet for the main event men's singles title of the tournament.

Chandra Shahi has emerged first in the men's singles over 55 years of age. He defended his title by defeating Jeevan Ghimire 6-0, 6-4. In the men's singles over 45, Kamal Bhandari won the title by defeating Dev Chhetri in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 in the final. In the men's singles over 35, former Nepal No. 1 Jitendra Pariyar and Santosh Khatri will face each other in the final. 

In the semifinals held on Tuesday, Jitendra defeated Pema Norbu 6-0, 6-2 and Santosh defeated Bhishma Jung Gurung 6-4, 6-4 to move closer to the title. The final matches of the tournament will be held on Wednesday.
