The Lumbini Lions team, which won the NPL Season 2 title, has been given a grand welcome in captain Rohit Poudel's home district of Nawalparasi.
The trophy was welcomed with joy and happiness by the municipality, various organizations and supporters at a program at Poudel's home in his hometown Bardaghat on Tuesday. On the same occasion, Bardaghat Municipality also honored Lumbini Lions and Nepali national cricket team captain Poudel's parents and family.
At the honoring program, Bardaghat Municipality Mayor Shambhulal Shrestha said that he would encourage and provide necessary support to the players who are building a cricket stadium in the city. The trophy was paraded around various areas of the city by Bardaghat Municipality, District Cricket Association, various organizations and supporters. There was a crowd taking photos with the trophy.
Captain Poudel was not able to attend due to his closed training, said Anup Pathak, a member of the District Cricket Association West Nawalparasi. The team reached Lumbini via Bhairahawa today.
