The hosts DVM Sagarmatha and Janata Mavi have secured a clash for the title after winning the semi-final match held on Tuesday.
In the first semi-final, Janata Mavi of Itahari defeated Unique Academy of Ramdhuni by a wide margin of 9 wickets and moved closer to the title. Batting first after losing the toss on the pitch of Nepal DVM Global Academy in Itahari-9, Unique Academy scored 77 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. For them, Edin Humagain scored 33 runs not out while Vishal Gosain added 20 runs. In reply, Janata Mavi achieved the winning target of 78 runs in 8.5 balls, losing only 1 wicket. Eshan Khan played an unbeaten innings of 43 runs to bring the Janata Mavi closer to the title. Praveen Mandal scored 15 runs. In that match, Esan, who scored 43 runs with the help of 7 fours and also took a wicket, was declared the Player of the Match. Sunsari District Cricket Association President CP Poudel presented him with a cash prize of Rs 1,000 and a toffee.
In the second and final semi-final held on Tuesday itself, the hosts DVM Sagarmatha defeated Kasturi Academy by 39 runs, ensuring a title clash with Janata Mavi. DVM Sagarmatha, who won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 87 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the stipulated 10 overs. Ayush Pokharel played a brilliant innings of 35 runs for them. In reply, Kasturi Academy, who came out to bat after chasing a winning target of 88 runs, were limited to 48 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 10 overs. Aditya Poudel of DVM was declared the Player of the Match for the match. Kasturi College Principal Kamlesh Sharma Poudel and former player Suman Poudel presented him with a cash prize of Rs 1,000.
The final match of the competition, which was started for the first time in Sunsari at the school level using leather balls, will be held on Wednesday. The winner of the competition, which will be held in 19 schools from Morang and Sunsari, will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and the runner-up will receive a prize of Rs 15,000. The best player of the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and the best player in the category will receive Rs 2,500, according to the organizers.
