Host Nepal Police School (Red) and Siddhartha Secondary School, Sundarharaincha, have entered the semi-finals of the 7th Koshi Provincial Level Inter-School DIGP Running Football Tournament on Monday.
In the first quarterfinal match held at the Nepal Police Provincial Office playground in Dharan, the host Nepal Police School (Red) defeated Nidhi Secondary School Birtamod, Jhapa by a margin of 2-1 to make it to the semifinals.
Adarsh Meche scored a goal in the 9th minute of the first half to give Nidhi the lead. But in the 24th minute, Ujwal Thapa of Police scored a goal through a header to level the game. In a very competitive match, captain Samir Rai scored the decisive goal in the 45th minute of the second half and took Police to the semifinals. Samir Rai was named the Man of the Match.
Similarly, in the second quarterfinal match, Siddhartha Secondary School Sundarharaincha defeated Dharan's Mount Hermon Academy 3-2 in a tiebreaker to book their place in the semifinals. After the match ended in a goalless draw in the scheduled time, the result was decided through the tiebreaker. Anish Rai, Nipesh Tamang and Kamal Karki scored for Siddhartha, while Janish Dewan and Ayush Limbu's shots went off the post. Only Sudin Tamang and Prince Bista managed to score for Mount Hermon Academy. Mount Hermon's journey ended in the quarterfinals after Sikum Limbu, Rajdeep Tamang and Suvarna Lohani failed to score. Siddhartha's goalkeeper Ayush Limbu was named Man of the Match.
The third quarterfinal match on Tuesday will be between Prabhat Secondary English School Dharan and Delhi Public School Biratnagar Morang at 1 pm, while the fourth quarterfinal match will be between Pinnacle Gyan Mandir Kanepokhari and Nepal Police School Dharan (Blue) at 2:30 pm.
