The Lumbini Lions, the winners of the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), have arrived in Gulmi with the trophy.
The trophy, which arrived in Gulmi on Saturday evening, was displayed at the famous religious and tourist site Resunga Yagyashala on Sunday morning.
The Lumbini Lions team representing Lumbini Province, which won the NPL trophy, was honored at the trophy display program, informed Baburam Palli, the municipality's chief administrative officer.
The municipality, along with the Bajagaza team of students of Resunga Secondary School, reached the Resunga area and gave a grand welcome and honor.
The Gulmeli player and bowler Tilak Raj Bhandari is also participating in the Lumbini Lions team with the trophy. Mayor Khildhwaj Panthi announced that player Bhandari will be honored with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 on the occasion of the city's foundation day on Baisakh 25.
Tilak Raj Bhandari said that it is a matter of pride to be associated with Gulmi district and play cricket. He thanked everyone for the invitation.
Resunga Municipality Mayor Khildhwaj Panthi said that the overall development of sports has been taken forward to attract attention to the game and respect for the players. "It is a matter of pride for the people of Lumbini that Lumbini Lions won the NPL trophy," he said. "This kind of respect from the district level will further enhance its stature."
He thanked Lumbini Lions for giving them the opportunity to display the trophy at the sacred religious land of Resunga Yagyashala. After this, Lumbini Lions will leave for Palpa via Tamghas, the district headquarters.
