The APF Football Club of the Departmental Armed Police Force has made a winning start to the 33rd edition of the Triveni Cup nationwide football tournament, which began on Saturday in Besisahar, the Lamjung district headquarters.

APF's Sameer Thokar opened the scoring in the 20th minute of the first half. He scored another goal in the 30th minute of the first half. In the 37th minute, Pradeep Lama scored a goal to give APF a 3-0 lead in the first half.
Mani Lama scored in the 18th minute of the second half. Samir Thokar scored again in the 25th minute of the second half to complete his hat-trick. For scoring the first goal, he received Rs 5,000 in cash from Ram Kumar Gurung, a resident of Bhujung, Lamjung, but living in Hong Kong. He also received Rs 10,000 in cash after being declared the winner of the match.
Sundarbazar Football Club, which had two foreign players on the field, failed to score any goals, and their supporters were disappointed. The first match on Sunday will be between NRT Kathmandu and Bhanu United (Chakrapath Kathmandu) at 11 am. The match will be between Suryapur Chitwan and Lamjung Marsyangdi Youth Club, Besisahar at 2 pm, informed Triveni Youth Club President Tekjung Gurung.
The winner will receive 1.2 million rupees and the runner-up 600,000 rupees. Similarly, the best player, highest scorer and best goalkeeper will receive 25,000/25,000 each. Last year, the two teams that lost in the semi-finals were given 200,000/200,000 rupees, but this year it has been removed.
It is estimated that the tournament will cost 13.2 million 35,000 rupees, including the Triveni evening to be held on the evening of Tamu Lhosar on Poush 15.
Inaugurating the tournament, Gandaki Province Minister for Forests and Environment Bhesh Bahadur Poudel emphasized that along with the development of football, physical infrastructure should also be developed.
Besisahar Municipality Mayor Guman Singh Aryal said that all-round support is needed for the construction of the necessary physical infrastructure of the playground in Sahaji.
