Amir Tengwung of Maiyakhola, Taplejung, won the men's title and Pushpa Sherma (Phungnara) of Miklajung, Panchthar won the women's title of the Sumhatlung Mini-Marathon held in Phidim.
In the marathon, Amir completed the prescribed nine and a half kilometers in 22 minutes, while Pushpa completed the prescribed five and a half kilometers in 19 minutes.
In the men's competition, Osan Rai of Miklajung finished second in 29 minutes, and Ramesh Limbu of Taplejung Phaktanglung secured third place in 30 minutes.
Similarly, in the women's race, Kritika Nemwang of Falgunanda Rural Municipality of Panchthar finished second in 20 minutes, while Menchoma Tumbapo of Phidim of Panchthar finished third in 20 minutes and 30 seconds.
There were 40 participants in the men's competition and 16 in the women's competition. The first, second and third place winners in the men's category received 30, 20 and 10 thousand respectively, and the first, second and third place winners in the women's category received 15, 10 and 5 thousand respectively, along with trophies, medals and certificates.
The marathon, which started from the historical site of Sumhatlung Garhi in Phidim Municipality-4, passed through Campus Mode-Jorsal, Pallotar Bus Park, Satyanaraye, District Police Office and Welfare Danda and ended at the Garhi Temple.
