Balmiki Memorial Secondary School in Morang has emerged victorious in the second match of the seventh edition of the provincial-level inter-school DIGP Cup football tournament.
In the match held at the football ground of Nepal Police Province Office, Dharan on Thursday, Balmiki Memorial defeated Nidhi Secondary School, Birtamod, Jhapa by a margin of 2-1.
Balmiki's Sankenma Bantawa Rai scored the team's lead in the first minute of the first half, while Manish Dulal added the second goal in the fifth minute. Nidhi's Pujan Dhakal scored the only goal in the 38th minute of the second half. Sankenma Bantawa Rai was declared the best player of the match.
Chief guest of the program, former national player Indu Rasaili, said that if sports are developed from the school level, capable national players can be produced in the future.
