Basant Gauchan Football Academy has launched a three-day 'Fun Roots Japan Football Camp' for young footballers.
The academy has announced that a football camp has been started targeting players aged 10 to 16 at the ground of the Buddhi Bikas Mandal in Lalankhel, Lalitpur.
Former Nepali national football player Basant Gauchan and Japanese coach Yuta Ogura are providing training. Along with them, Nepal's 'A' license coach Rajendra Tamang, local coaches including Hari Lama, Rajesh Shahi, Chetan Ghimire, Sachin Shrestha are providing training.
Academy chairman Gauchan said that players aged 10-12 will be trained for 3 days from 9-11 am and 2-4 pm. About 100 youth are participating in the training.
Gauchan, who became a 'star boy' after the 8th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu in 1999, has been making Japan his workplace for two and a half decades. Three years ago, he opened a football academy in his own name and has been training children and youth. Under his initiative, Nepali youth players have been participating in the Copa Toreros tournament in Japan for a week every year for the past decade.
Gauchan Ogura is a JFA Certified Level Two Instructor. He was the U-13 coach at J. League club Sonam Belmar for three years. Ogura has been coaching various schools and academies since 2015. He is also affiliated with Fun Roots Football Academy in Tokyo, Japan.
