Defending champion Saraswati School has won the title of the fourth Biratnagar Hab Inter-School Cricket Tournament.
Saraswati School won the title by defeating Satyanarayan School by 40 runs in the final match held at the Jwala Cricket Ground in Marylebone, Biratnagar, organized by the Nepal Cricket Foundation on Wednesday.
Saraswati, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored a modest total of 83 runs in 17.1 overs, losing all their wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Saraswati's Bikash Kamat and Rohit Kamat, apart from 19 runs each, failed to reach double figures. Satyanarayan's Manish Kamat, Rahul Yadav and Shatrudhan Chaudhary took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Satyanarayan, who chased down a target of 84 runs, was bowled out cheaply. They lost all their wickets in 12.3 overs and made only 43 runs. Satyanarayan's Sagar Yadav scored the highest 16 runs. The other players failed to reach double figures. Saraswati's Prashant Yadav took 4 wickets while Suraj Mandal took 3 wickets.
Prashant Yadav and Suraj Mandal of Saraswati were jointly declared the Players of the Match of the final match. Miraj Sheikh of Greenpeace School was declared the Players of the Series. Similarly, Prince Yadav of Greenland School was the Best Batsman and Prashant Yadav of Saraswati School was the Best Bowler.
Morang District Cricket Association Vice President Rishi Bachan Yadav, Hisan Koshi Member Manish Bhattarai, Nepal Cricket Foundation President Abhishek Shrestha, former Nepali national player Siddhant Lohani, Mills Cricket Club President Murali Chaudhary and Morang District Cricket Association Member Manoj Chaudhary distributed prizes and trophies to the winners and other players.
