The 6th Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Championship Women's and Men's Volleyball Tournament is scheduled to be held at the Pokhara Stadium from Magh 29 to 31.
Tiger Group of Pokhara Nepal held a press conference in Pokhara on Tuesday and announced that 14 teams, including women's and men's teams, will participate in the competition.
Teams from Thailand, India and Maldives will participate in the competition. United Passion Volleyball Club Thailand and Wild Queens Thailand are participating in the women's category. Along with this, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Tip Top New Diamond Youth Sports Club and Everest Volleyball Club Rupandehi will compete.
Gandaki Province Volleyball Association Pokhara, Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Parbat District Volleyball Association, Maldives Volleyball Association and Gujarat Volleyball Club India are participating in the men's category. This time, Parbat District Volleyball Association is participating by including players from Help Nepal.
This time, the prize money has been increased compared to last year and the winning teams in both the women's and men's categories will receive equal prizes, said Tiger Group Chairman Narayan Sharma. The title winner will receive Rs 666,666, the runner-up Rs 366,666 and the third-place team will receive Rs 166,666. The best player will receive Rs 26,666 and the best player in each discipline will receive Rs 11,666 each.
International volleyball referees from India and the Maldives are participating in the competition for the first time this year. It is estimated that the cost of completing the competition will be Rs 18 million. Chairman Sharma informed that a parapet with a larger audience capacity has been built for the competition this time than last year.
This time, all the matches of the Tiger Cup will be broadcast live by Kantipur Television. ‘For the convenience of the spectators, online seasonal tickets worth Rs 3,500 have been arranged and distributed,’ said Chairman Sharma. ‘Senior citizens and differently-abled dignitaries will be allowed to watch the game for free and separate seating arrangements will be made for them as much as possible.’
Tiger Group has formed a 107-member main organizing committee and 14 sub-committees under the chairmanship of Chairman Sharma to conduct the competition.
‘With the participation of foreign teams in the competition and grand preparations, we have succeeded in making it an international standard,’ said Chairman Sharma. ‘The money saved from the competition will be invested in health, education, sports and social sectors.’
