Aston Villa strengthened their hold on the top three in the English Premier League on Sunday by defeating Manchester United 2-1. In the process, Villa has also become a contender for the league title.

This was Villa's tenth consecutive win in all competitions. Morgan Rodgers scored both goals for the winning team in the match at Villa Park. Matthijs Cunha pulled one back for United.

The victory takes Villa to 36 points from 17 games. This is just three points behind leaders Arsenal. Arsenal have 39 points. Manchester City are behind them with 37 points.
