Shailendra Neupane has won first place in the third Ward Chairman's Cup Chess Competition organized by Ward No. 9 of Lalitpur Mahalaxmi Municipality.
In the competition between 200 players including national players from Nepal and 13 players from India, Shailendra won the gold with 8 points and earned Rs 25,000.
Rishon Thapa and Muhan Narsingh Shrestha were in second and third place respectively with 7.5 points. Many players competed with a small difference in points in the top 6, which made the competition exciting.
FM Kshitij Bhandari, Kavindra Shiwakoti, Badrilal Nepali were in fourth, fifth, and sixth place with 7.5 points each, while CM Krishna Thapa of Hetauda, Mission Thapa, Suroj Maharjan of Mahalaxmi Municipality, and CM Navin Tandukar were successful in securing seventh to tenth places.
32 people were awarded in various categories in the competition. The said competition was held in the presence of the chief judge FIDE arbitrator Harikrishna Shrestha.
