Rubin Maharjan of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-8 and Ivana Thapa of Jhapa Shivasatakshi-8 have won gold in the 5th All Nepal Inter-ward National Table Tennis Championship.

On Saturday, Rubin became the champion in the men's open singles and Ivana became the champion in the women's. In the men's final held at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lainchaur, Rubin defeated Sanyog Kapali of Lalitpur-16 in sets of 4-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-5, 14-12, 11-9. Gananjay Dahal of Udayapur Belkotgadhi-8 and Alex Maharjan of Lalitpur-7 came third.

In the women's final, Ivana defeated Biyanka Rai of Sankhuwasabha-4 in sets of 7-11, 11-6, 11-4, 1-11, 11-9, 11-6. Diksha Dahal of Dharan-16 and Anita Maharjan of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 came third.

Chandan Shahi of Kathmandu-26 won the men's singles over 40 category in the tournament organized by the Spin Events Management and Spin Table Tennis Club. He defeated Sameep Shrestha of Lalitpur-2 11-3, 11-7, 11-8 in the final.

In the men's singles final over 50 years of age, Rajendra Bajracharya of Lalitpur-11 defeated Jaya Maharjan of Kirtipur-6 12-10, 12-14, 11-6, 11-7 to win the title. In the men's team event, Lalitpur-8 defeated Lalitpur-7 3-0 to win the gold.

Lalitpur Metropolitan City Ward 8 team became the champion in the competition. Ward-8 has won 3 gold medals.

The winner was awarded by Bagmati Province's Youth and Sports Minister Urmila Nepal KC, Provincial Sports Development Council Bagmati Member-Secretary Deepak Lama, All Nepal Table Tennis Association President Brijendra Bahadur Hamal, and the organizing Spin Table Tennis Club President Suman Shakya, among others.

Former junior national table tennis champion Mahesh Bhimseria, who has made an unparalleled contribution to the continuous development, promotion and institutional development of the game of table tennis, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sanket Neupane, who won the silver medal in the men's singles of table tennis at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games held in Dubai, was also honored.

450 players competed in 11 events in the five-day tournament, which was held under the main sponsorship of Honor Mobile and co-sponsored by NIEC Education Consultancy and Everest Fashion, according to Jacky Maharjan, treasurer and tournament coordinator of the All Nepal Table Tennis Association. The total prize money of the tournament is Rs. 240,000.
