The 33rd edition of the Triveni Cup nationwide football tournament is scheduled to be held from December 12 in Besisahar, the headquarters of Lamjung.

The organizer, Triveni Youth Club, Besisahar, held a press conference in Besisahar on Friday and announced the trophy and informed about the football competition. The winner of the competition, which will be held at the sports ground in Sahaji, Besisahar, will receive a trophy, medal and certificate along with a prize of Rs. 1.2 million and the runner-up will receive Rs. 6 million.

Similarly, the best player, highest scorer and best goalkeeper will receive Rs. 25,000/25,000 each, a trophy and a certificate. The organizer has stated that Rs. 10,000 and a trophy will be given to the man of the match in each game.

The chairman of the organizing club, Tekjung Gurung, said that 16 teams will participate in the competition this year. Among them, Kathmandu-based Chitlang Football Club, New Road Football Club, Church Boys United, Departmental Team APF, Satdobato Football Club and Tokha Bhagwati Football Club will be invited. It is estimated that Rs. 1.7 million will be spent on managing the invited teams.

The organizers are Triveni, Lamjung Marsyangdi Youth Club Besisahar, Buddha Youth Club Bhoteodar, Langdidevi Youth Club Nalma, Laligurans Youth Club Bhujung, Thadarai Adhikari Society Dihithok, Suryapur Football Club Chitwan, Chakrapath Youth Club Kathmandu, Rods Rampur Football Club Rampur Chitwan and Samaj Kalyan Youth Club Kathmandu.

Last year, the two teams that lost in the semi-finals were given Rs 200,000 each, but this arrangement has been removed from this year. It is estimated that Rs 13.25 million will be spent on the tournament, including the Triveni evening. 

Binod Gurung, former president of the Triveni evening coordinator club, said that Rs 1.2 million will be spent on the Triveni evening, which will be organized on Tamu Lhochhar (15 Poush), the cultural festival of the Gurung caste.

Club Secretary Achyut Poudel said that preparations for contact with the football team, maintenance of the playground, and financial management have reached the final stage.
