Nepal Police School Sanga, the organizer, has won the title of the 31st Inter-Secondary School IGP Football Running Trophy competition held at Nepal Police School Sanga.
In the final match held on Friday, Sanga defeated Sainik Residential Secondary School, Bhaktapur by a margin of 1-0 to win the title.
The competition was formally concluded at the closing ceremony organized under the chief guestship of Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki. Nepal Police School Sanga came first in the competition, Sainik Residential Secondary School Bhaktapur came second and Peace Point Boarding School came third.
In the individual category, Manish Banwright of Nepal Police School Sanga was declared the best player, while Sameer Thapa was declared the best goalkeeper. Neeraj Adhikari of Sainik Residential Secondary School Bhaktapur was declared the best player. Biketeshwor School won the fair play team title, while Nepal APF School, Kirtipur was declared the best march pass. Roni Bir Bikram Shah of Nepal Police School was named the 'Player of the Match' in the final match.
The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 60,000, the runner-up received Rs 40,000 and the third-placed team received Rs 20,000.
At the closing ceremony, Inspector General of Police Karki presented trophies, cash prizes and certificates to the winning players and the best performing players and teams in various categories. In addition, certificates were also presented to the match referees and officials.
On the occasion, Inspector General of Police Karki said that this competition, which has a history of more than three decades, has been making a significant contribution to the development of school-level football, the identification of new talents and the development of confidence, discipline, cooperation and leadership among students. He said that the all-round personality development of students is necessary through sports and creative activities along with studies.
The competition, which started on November 17, was attended by 15 teams from 14 schools in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavre.
