The Genji MRC Futsal Tournament is being held in memory of the martyrs of the Genji Movement.

The organizer, Mitranagar Rising Club, has informed about the competition through a press conference. The competition to be held at the Manang Marsyangdi Futsal Court will be held on Poush 4 and 5. The winning team will receive a trophy of Rs 100,000. The second-place team will receive Rs 50,555. The best players in each category will also be awarded.

Coordinator Sonam Tamang said that the remaining amount after deducting expenses from the competition will be spent on social work and support for the families of martyrs. The estimated cost of the competition is Rs 700,000 to 900,000.

He said that well-wishers from abroad have contributed to the competition. Ram Gurung from the UK, Samson Gurung and Pradeep Gurung from Hong Kong have provided financial and moral support, according to the organizer.

The competition, in which more than 30 teams will participate, will be played on a knockout basis, according to the organizing club. He believed that such futsal competitions would help raise the reputation of football in a situation where football competitions have stopped.
